An unexpected visit

Sunday February 15, 2015

David and I were spending a lazy Sunday at home when we got a text from Cindy (Timmy's Foster Mom) They were at Forsyth hospital with her husbands father and wanted to know if we would be willing to hang out with Timmy. She also told us all Timmy could talk about and say was how much he missed us and when could he see us again. We of course said yes and in less then 5 minutes were on our way to pick him up.

We got to the hospital main entrance and as soon as I got out of the car, I see Timmy literally running to me with his arms open wide, when he got to me he said, "Lindsay I missed You." I teared up and told him I had missed him too. Then he ran to the car and met David and told him he missed him too. This by far has to be one of the best moments we have had with him.We have bonded with this amazing little boy.

Sunday afternoon was fun he and David played games and then we took him to see a movie, Big hero 6. During the movie he snuggled up to both David and I. We have gained this sweet boy's trust!

We headed back to the house and had some dinner. After dinner Timmy wanted to draw. He's quite the little artist (are we surprised?) He and David drew angry birds for about 45 minutes. He watched everything David would do and try to copy David's lines and movements. Here's a few from the drawing session.

This unexpected visit was such a blessing to David and I.

Visit 4 with Timmy

Visit 4, February 14
Valentines day for us was fun. I have heard people say that adopting older children is hard because you miss out on so much and so many firsts. But just like any new mom and dad David and I are experiencing firsts and moments that are unique to us. So we celebrated our FIRST valentines with him. David and I had fun picking out things for his little valentines basket. David is so thoughtful when it comes to this kid. He went by and picked up a special spiderman basket to put all his goodies in. We met Timmy and his foster dad Lyn, and he was excited and ready to go. He jumped out of the car and greeted us with smiles! We learned that Lyn's Dad was not doing well and they most likely would be up at Forsyth hospital. Lyn and Cindy are Timmy's foster parents and they are just a lovely, down to earth, sweet, and genuine christian couple. We have enjoyed getting to know them and feel a kinship family type bond with them. We told Lyn to please keep us updated on everything and to not hesitate to call us for anything.

We were told by our social workers that our visits should really be like real life in our house is like. So we got him home and showed him his room, which he was super excited about, the mattress wasn't in yet but he was still excited and loved it. We have a few more things to do in it. I will post pics of his room once it is complete. David showed him the Entertainment Room and Timmy LOVED it, we have a projector and gaming systems in it. David got him Angry birds Starwars and played it on the big screen. We limited the amount of time on the gaming, and grabbed some lunch and headed to the science center in Greensboro. Timmy was enthralled with the aquarium they have their. He and David sat there for a good 30 minutes talking about the different fish and he was fascinated by the sharks and the puffer fish. We enjoyed playing at the science center a lot, we love playing with our kid so much. David and I do not want to be observation parents any chance we get we want to play and interact with Timmy. We as parents and Timmy as the child have missed the first 5 years and we don't want to miss anything.  It is so fun to run around with him and play!

After the science center we took him by to meet his Papoo and Mimi and Gi-Gi. (my parents and great grandma) They are the first of our family to meet Timmy. The vista was a very short one, but went as well as expected. We headed back to Winston late afternoon. His foster parents came and picked him up around 7pm. He was solo excited to show them our house and his room. It was hard to watch him go, we love this little guy so much.

Visit 1-2-3 with Timmy

Thursday, February 19, 2015

>>>>Fast forward to January>>>>>
Visit 1 January 2, 2015.

I was a little nervous and had so many thoughts swirling around in my mind. Would he like us? Does he even know what's going on? How will he act? etc... you get the point. The meeting went as well as could be expected. We met Timmy, his foster parents, and both our social worker and his to go bowling. It was really fun to watch David, he is a natural. Timmy immediately warmed up to him and Timmy wanted David to help him bowl and play video games. It was precious.

Vist 2 January 10, 2015
The second time we visited with Timmy we were invited to his home eat dinner with him and his foster family. The evening started off a little awkward, but he soon warmed up to us and we enjoyed some board games and eventually wrestled with David and he snuggled up in my lap to look at pictures on my phone.

Important Dates
>>>January 20, adoption committee officially approved David and I as Timmy's "forever Mommy and Daddy."

>>>January 29, Timmy is told he will be leaving his current placement and about us and how he will be getting a forever mommy and daddy.

Visit 3 January 31, 2015
We got to have our first all day visit with him Saturday the 31st. We had no idea how this day would go, we honestly thought it might be a bit of a challenge to even get him in the car. We prayed on it and headed to pick him up saturday morning, and to our surprise he was ready to go and excited to spend the day with us. We took him to Boone since it was only 30mins up the road. While on our way Timmy said to us, "So I am going to live with you until I get big? That would be fine with me." Both David and I teared up because he seemed to at least grasp what was going on. David and I were excited to take him to a playhouse in Boone that had this amazing train table, (side-note TIMMY LOVES THOMAS THE TRAIN) after some lunch we headed to hawks nest to go snow tubing. (thank you Tressie for the great idea) HE LOVED IT!! It was an absolute blast. It was hard at the end of the day to transfer him back to his foster parents. (by the way we LOVE his foster parents, I'll tell you more about them later) We love this little guy soooo much.

We are adopting another... Just kidding

We are finally adopting a human!!

We are soooo excited to finally share with you all that we are officially adopting. We began this journey September of 2013 when we  took the first step and signed up for mapp classes with Forsyth County DSS. The classes were great and took 5 weeks to complete. When we finished we had no idea what to expect and how long it would take for us to get matched. In the mean time we have been praying and wishing and hoping. We were matched with a wonderful adoption worker and so began the search for the perfect kid for us. We read many profiles and looked at tons of pictures. In September of 2014 we came across a sweet fun loving looking little boy. He had just been announced as legally free to be adopted. So our worker found out more about him and set up a meeting with his social worker. The meeting went well and we decided to continue to persue timmy. I will tell you more about the process and our precious visits we have had with him soon.
