Friday February 20, 2015

The foster parents had a family emergency so that resulted in us getting to have Timmy Friday nite too.  David picked him up late Friday afternoon. When David got to the foster parents house Timmy was all ready to go. Cindy (foster mom) told David he asked all day when David was going to get there, 3 hours before David got there Timmy put his coat on and refused to take it off because he wanted to make sure he was ready to go. Off and on he sat and waited at the window looking out for David. Seriously how precious is that!?!

I got off work and rushed home because Timmy's Mattress and box spring were delivered that morning and I wanted to get his bed all set up before they got home. I got home and the slats for his bed were supposed to have come in but due to all the wether stuff they hadn't come yet and the guys forgot to deliver the loaner ones. So I made a quick decision and measured how long the slats would need to be and headed to lowes. I was putting the last blanket on Timmy's bed when I heard the garage door open, and a few seconds later a sweet little boys voice say Lindsay! He ran back to his room where I was and looked at his bed and immediately jumped on to it. He was ecstatic! (thank you Mike and Tressie for the tremendous gift of Timmy's Furniture.) David came in with his suitcase, and right away Timmy wanted to unpack his things and started putting his things in the drawers of his dresser. After we got him settled we headed to our neighbors house so he could see the Turners. Watching him and Grace play was so much fun. Timmy and I headed back to the house for bath and bedtime. David stayed back to watch the Turner Kiddos so Jimmy and Kristen could go watch movie. (again we wanted to proceed with the way real life is for us. the Turners are family t ohs and we often take turns watching each other dogs, houses and well now kids)

Bath time and bed time went quite smoothly. I loved snuggling up with Timmy and reading a book to him and chatting about angry birds and whatever else he wants to talk about. I was so glad that bedtime went so well and they he fell asleep so quickly. It's a sign that he is at peace and comfortable in his new surroundings.

He stayed asleep till about 3am and heard the dogs barking, we went to check on him and he wasn't in his bed, so we checked the living room and he was sitting on the couch. He told us he was scared, so I put him back in bed and told him he didn't need to be scared that we were right down the hall, and if he needed anything all he need to do was call for us.

So all in all our first night went great.
